NORFOLK, Va. --
Defending MEAC champion Howard vaulted into a tie for first place in the conference standings on Wednesday with a 3-1 (16-25, 25-12, 25-23, 25-18) win over Norfolk State in Gill Gymnasium.

With their third straight win, the Bison improved to 18-9 overall and 11-2 in MEAC play on the season.

Howard hit .368 for the match as a team, and Rya McKinnon led the way with a career-high 23 kills on .500 hitting -- while adding eight digs, three block assists and two service aces. Cimone Woodard hit .650, racking up 13 kills on an error-free 20 swings and added three more aces.

Kayla Diaz had 53 assists, seven digs and an ace.

Maryland Eastern Shore 3, Morgan State 1

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- 
It was an all-around performance for Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday afternoon at the Hytche Athletic Center against the visiting Morgan State Bears. The Hawks (8-16, 6-7 MEAC) took down the Bears (3-23, 2-10 MEAC) in four sets by scores of 25-23, 25-14, 21-25 and 25-10 in MEAC play.
 
Taking the victory wasn't the only thing to celebrate, with the Hawks honoring Derionah Abner, Sophia Chacon, Alexis Lee and Sydney Morris prior to the match for Senior Day.

Lee saved her last home game for one of the best in her career, the Wilmington, Del., native had a match-high 11 kills at a .259 rate. Defensively, Isil Yilmaz played lights out and had a season-high 27 digs, the first time she's had more than 17 all season. Charlize Williams was again dominant at the net with two solo and three assisted blocks.
