NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 3, 2022 –
Morgan State graduate quarterback Carson Baker was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference announced today.
Delaware State senior defensive lineman Isaiah Williams was named Defensive Player of the Week, while
the Hornets’ Coleon Williams was named Rookie of the Week and
Delaware State sophomore punter Matt Noll was named Specialist of the Week.
Baker (QB, 6-3, 205, Gr., San Diego, Calif.) threw three touchdown passes in the first half of the Bears’ 44-10 win over Virginia University of Lynchburg. He completed 10 of his 14 passes for 160 yards, averaging 16.0 yards per completion, leading a Morgan State offense that posted 364 total yards – including 249 through the air.
I. Williams (DL, 6-2, 295, Sr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) was a force in the defensive backfield for the Hornets, registering two sacks and a quarterback hurry in the win over Robert Morris. He had four total stops, including three solo efforts against the Colonials.
C. Williams (DB, 5-10, 180, Fr., Trenton, N.J.) shined on special teams for the Hornets against Robert Morris, recovering a muffed punt in the end zone for what ended up being the game-winning touchdown in the third quarter. He also had a pair of pass breakups on defense.
Noll (P, 6-0, 200, So., Robesonia, Pa.) averaged 43.6 yards on 11 punts against Robert Morris, including three kicks of more than 50 yards (with a long of 64 yards) and two punts knocked inside the 20-yard line.

Marquis Gillis (Delaware State) rushed 14 times for 64 yards and a 41-yard touchdown run against Robert Morris.
Aaron Bickerton (Howard) hit two field goals (31 and 27 yards) against Yale.
Kenny Gallop, Jr. (Howard) had eight tackles, a pass breakup and a forced fumble against Yale.
Kasey Hawthorne (Howard) caught seven passes for 112 yards against Yale.
Eden James (Howard) ran for 50 yards on six carries, averaging 8.3 yards per rush against Yale.
Beckett Leary (Morgan State) was 6-for-6 in PATs and averaged 46.1 yards per kickoff against Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Elijah Williams (Morgan State) had five tackles, including three for loss, recording a sack and breaking up a pass against Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Jason Chambers (North Carolina Central) had 11 tackles (seven solo) and two pass breakups against Campbell.
Juan Velarde (North Carolina Central) averaged 43.6 yards per punt against Campbell, placing two inside the 20.
