DOVER, Del., Jan. 8, 2022 -- Delaware State's Saralyne Nassberg has earned a spot on the 2022 United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Junior National Team, an elite group of top American young women who represent the U.S. in international bowling competition.
Nassberg qualified for the coveted spot on the national team after a strong showing at the Team USA Trails in Las Vegas this week.
Prior to attending Delaware State, Nassberg was third in the USA Junior Nationals in 2017.
She is off to a good start to the Hornets' 2021-22 season as well. Nassberg was named MEAC Bowler of the Week in November after posting the fourth-best traditional average—tops among MEAC bowlers—at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic, averaging 219.2 pins and topping the 200-pin mark in four of her five games, including a high of 241. She also averaged 20.57 pins per frame in Baker play at the Hawk Classic.
She is the first Delaware State bowler to earn a place on the USA Junior National Team since Alexis Neuer in 2017.
