DURHAM, N.C. (January 29, 2022) – Graduate Kyle Foster scored a career-high 27 points, including the game-winning three-pointer, to lift the Howard University men’s basketball team over North Carolina Central (NCCU) in overtime, 75-74. The Virginia product connected on a corner three with only two seconds left.
 
With the victory, Howard (8-9, 2-2 MEAC) grabbed its second win during its four-game road swing while knocking off NCCU for the first time at McDougald-McLendon Arena since December 2015.
 
On the afternoon, Foster shot 10-of-12 from the floor, including 5-of-6 from long range, while recording a pair of steals.
 
Redshirt sophomore Steve Settle, III had 17 points, three boards, three blocks and three steals while Elijah Hawkins added nine points, seven dimes and a career-high seven steals in the victory.
 
Five Eagles scored double figures, led by Justin Wright with 17 points. NCCU (8-10, 2-1 MEAC) suffered its first home loss of the season (4-1).
 
 
Norfolk State 87, South Carolina State 69
 
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (Jan. 29, 2022) – Joe Bryant Jr. scored all 22 of his points in the second half to lead Norfolk State to its sixth-straight win with an 87-69 win over South Carolina State on the road at SHM Memorial Center Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans (15-4, 6-0 MEAC) shot 65.6% in the second half, pouring in 57 points and held the Bulldogs (10-11, 2-3 MEAC) to 40% for the game to remain undefeated in the MEAC.
 
Five Spartans scored in double figures. In addition to Bryant, Jalen Hawkins (17), Kris Bankston (15), Christian Ings (12) and Tyrese Jenkins (12) all reached the two-digit point total plateau.
 

Maryland Eastern Shore 64, Coppin State 61
 
BALTIMORE, Maryland — On Saturday (January 29), the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team won their first conference game of the season as they defeated the Coppin State University Eagles 64-61.
 
"We talked about how we have shown resilience all year in different spots and being able to bounce back through all adversity," head coach Jason Crafton said. "So for our guys to come on the road, not take care of the ball in spots, but still find a way to win I'm super proud of that."
 
Dom London finished with a double-double as he had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Donchevell Nugent had his best game as a Hawk as he finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Each was a season high for Nugent.
 
Coppin State got double-doubles from both Tyree Corbett and Nendah Tarke. Corbett had 16 points and 12 rebounds. Tarke finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds along with eight assists and six steals.
