NORFOLK, Va., Jan. 25, 2022—Maryland Eastern Shore junior Alejandra Amezcua was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Delaware State’s Sydney Reardon was named Rookie of the Week.
Amezcua (Baja California, Mexico) was the top MEAC bowler at the Northeast Classic, averaging 229.6 pins in traditional play to end up fifth in the individual standings and earn First Team All-Tournament honors. She bowled over 200 in all five traditional games, including three better than 230, and her weekend best was a 248.
Reardon (Fr., Ridgefield, Conn.) was ninth in the individual standings at the Northeast Classic, second among MEAC bowlers in the tournament, with a traditional average of 222.0. She eclipsed the 200-pin mark three times – including a weekend-best 266. She was also strong in Baker play, averaging 20.5 pins per frame and 9.01 on first balls.
Other Top Performers
Natalia Miranda Vega (Morgan State) averaged 184.2 pins in traditional play at the Seahawk Invitational, bowling a weekend-best 237 and finishing fifth overall in the individual standings.
Saige Yamada (Monmouth) was 12th out of 135 bowlers at the Northeast Classic, averaging 218.4 pins in traditional play and eclipsing the 200-pin mark four times – including a season-best 243.
Ericka Quesada (North Carolina A&T State) averaged 212.4 pins at the Northeast Classic and eclipsed the 200-pin mark four times.
