Ba, Stuteley Lead Coppin State at Towson Invite

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. -- 
Competing in their first meet in nearly two years, the Coppin State men's cross country team took third while the women finished sixth at the Towson Invitational, held at the Baltimore Agricultural Center, on Saturday morning. 
 
Making their collegiate cross country debuts, Amadou Ba led the men, taking fifth overall in 18:08.20 (5K), while Saidai Stuteley clocked a 17:10.10 (4K) to pace the women's squad.

Adebiyi Breaks School Record at Mount 5K Duals

EMMITSBURG, Md. -- 
Howard University senior Ayoade Adebiyi set the tone in cross country's opening weekend, breaking the program's school mark at the Mount 5K Duals, hosted by Mount St. Mary's.
 
The Virgnia Beach, Va., native took seventh overall, clocking in at a new school record of 16:13.15. The previous mark was held by Momahed Bah (16:16.30).
 
Other notable performances from the men included newcomer Marsellis Davis finishing in the top half, producing a 17:15.91 time in his collegiate debut.
 
On the women's side, rookie Joslyn Crosby led the way with a 20:45.83 mark, while fellow classmate Camille Egbula registered a 21:01.69 time.

Morgan State Men Take Team Title in Season Opener

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. -- 
The Morgan State men's cross country season opened with the Bears capturing the team title Saturday during the Towson XC Invitational. 
 
The Bears came in first place with 30 points, followed by St. Mary's (Md.) with 33 points and Coppin State finished third with 70 points.
 
Jackson Waller and Justin Alston led the way for the Bears, who dominated the meet on a sunny day at the Baltimore County Agricultural Center.

N.C. Central Finishes 10th at Elon Opener

ELON, N.C. -- 
The North Carolina Central cross country teams began their season with 10th-place performances at the "Friday Night Lights" Elon Opener, hosted by Elon University.
 
For the men, redshirt senior Juan Rodriguez finished 60th with a 20:06.1 time. Freshman Alex Garcia and senior Joshua McLean placed in 84th and 89th with times of 21:24.7 and 22.12.0, respectively.
 
The NCCU women were led by junior Ariana Harrell, who finished the course in 16:53.0 to place 77th. Freshman Elan Booker crossed the line with a time of 17:56.8 to earn 88th place.

South Carolina State's Banks Sets PR in Season Opener

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- 
South Carolina State sophomore Jada Banks established a personal record and earned a seventh-place finish with a time of 18:57.6 Saturday at the Buccaneer Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Charleston Southern.

Banks helped the Lady Bulldogs to a sixth-place finish (144 pts.) in the team standings as S.C. State completed the 5K course in a combined time of 1:55.09. Host Charleston Southern, behind Maddie Wheatley's top time of 18:33.5 and five of the top seven runners, won the team title (29 pts.) with a time of 1:35.04.

The Bulldog men, who did not vie for the team title, were paced by freshman Andrew Latimer, a transfer from Arkansas Pine Bluff, with a time of 20:56.5.
