North Carolina Central Sweeps at Greensboro XC Invite
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- North Carolina Central men's and women's cross country teams earned victories at the Greensboro XC Invitational on Saturday evening.
The men's unit got the best of North Carolina Wesleyan College, Fayetteville State University and Livingstone College, while the women defeated the same schools in addition to Winston-Salem State University.
The men's unit impressively swept the top seven places in the university 8k race. Seniors Ashton Drake and Juan Rodriguez finished the course in 27:26.86 and 27:41.13 to place first and second, respectively.
Drake set a new personal-best in the event, beating his mark from the 2019 MEAC Championships.

Norman's Record Run Leads Delaware State Men at The Shore Invite
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- A record-setting performance by Albert Norman led Delaware State to a first-place finish at The Shore XC Invite this weekend.
Norman, competing in his first race of the season, was first among 42 runners to cross the finish line with a modern-day Delaware State record time of 25-minutes-57 seconds in the 8K race.
Norman's time was nearly 18 seconds ahead of teammate and runner-up Devin Smith, who posted a time of 26:15.4 to give the Hornets the top two finishers in the race.

Howard Women Win The Shore Invite
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- The
Howard University women's cross country team won the 2021 Shore Invitational, hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, after three Bison placed in the top five.
Rookies Joslyn Crosby and Camille Egbula led the Bison charge, finishing first (19:27.40) and second (20:07.30), respectively.
On the men's side, senior Ayoade Adebiyi led the Bison with another top-10 finish, placing third overall with a 26:20.00 mark in the 8K race.

Morgan State Men Finish Third at The Shore
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- The Morgan State men's cross country team placed third at The Shore XC Invitational on Saturday.
Delaware State captured the team title with 22 points at the 8k run, followed by Howard in second place with 46 points, and Morgan third with 104 points.
Freshman standout Jackson Waller recorded a top-10 finish for the Bears by crossing the tape in seventh place with a time 27:28.9.
Freshman Devion Bryant and sophomore Justin Alston finished in 13
th and 14
th place, respectively.

Three Eagles Finish Top-10 at The Shore Invite
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- Coppin State's women's cross country team, led by Kamillah Monroque's sixth-place performance, placed three Eagles in the top 10 and finished second in the team standings at The Shore XC Invite on Saturday morning.
Amadou Ba finished ninth overall in the men's race as the Eagles finished seventh in the team standings.
Monroque covered the 5K course in a season-best 20:46.80 to lead the Eagles and was followed up by Saidai Stuteley in 20:55.30 after she outkicked Delaware State's Tai Brown for seventh place.
Latifa Ali also cracked the top 10 by finishing 10th in 21:16.50.

Two South Carolina State Records Fall in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two South Carolina State school records were erased Friday at the Queen City Cross Country Invite, hosted by the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
Sophomore Jada Banks completed the 5K run in a time of 18:07.0 to erase the mark of 18:31.50 set by Marketa Marcanikova in 2016. Banks’ mark was also a personal record, as she eclipsed her own mark of 18.57.6 which she established Sept. 4 at Charleston Southern.
Bulldog sophomore Trey Felton set a school record in the men’s 8K run with a clocking of 25:58.0, breaking the mark of 26:34.0 established in 2019 by Tyler Duncan.

Hawks Post Mixed Results at The Shore Invite
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Cross Country teams had some mixed results in the only home meet of the season with the men putting up a fourth place finish out of seven teams and the women finishing sixth.
Sophomore Dominique Spann had the top finish of the day for either squad coming in 12th in the Eastern Shore XC Invite 5K race (21:26.00) — a PR in her short career. Laura Menendez finished 15th with a (25:14.80).
On the men's side, Shawn Smith was 15th leading a trio of Eastern Shore runners across the finish line with a 28:37.90. Senior Edwin Kipruto was 16th with a time of 28:47.70.
Junior Nahom Ftwi was next in 17th (29.13.70) in his first action of the season.
