ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- Coppin State swept South Carolina State 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-11) in its MEAC opener on Friday night at Dukes Gymnasium.
The Eagles now stand at 7-6 on the season, while the Bulldogs fell to 0-9.
Miajavon Coleman led all players with nine kills with just one error to hit .444 for the match, while Ahzhi Coleman added another six kills while hitting an impressive .417. Sydney Hicks, Jordan Celestine and Hope Casel all had four kills and Paola Caten chipped in with three.
Setter Andrea Tsvetanova tallied 22 assists and a season-high eight service aces while recording six digs. Ashley Roman was credited with a match-high nine digs as Coppin outhit the Bulldogs, .368 to .111.

Delaware State 3, Howard 1
DOVER, Del. -- The Hornets' winning streak is now nine.
Delaware State opened MEAC play on Friday evening with a 3-1 (26-24, 25-16, 14-25, 25-19) win over Howard in Memorial Hall, as three Hornets racked up double-digit kills.
Alondra Maldonado led the way with 15 kills, while Valeria Otero recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 17 digs. Kristi Gomez added 10 kills and was one dig shy of also having a double-double. Malgorzata Andersohn had a double-double of her own with 27 assists and 12 digs.
Jasmal Cruz led the Hornets defensively with 20 digs.

Maryland Eastern Shore 3, Norfolk State 0
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- In its first conference match of the season, the Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team defeated Norfolk State in straight sets on Friday night inside the William P. Hytche Center.
Friday night's win was the fourth straight win for the Hawks, as they stand at 6-6 on the season.
The winning streak of four is the longest for the team since the 2017 season, when head coach Trevor Callarman was an assistant.
"We wanted to come into conference play and prove a point," Callarman said. "Norfolk played a pretty good match, but we feel like today our girls were a little bit better so it feels good to get it a win in this manner."

North Carolina Central 3, Morgan State 1
DURHAM, N.C. -- Sophomore setter Lauren Janok and senior middle blocker Ammaarah Williams set new career highs in assists and kills, respectively, to help North Carolina Central earn a 3-1 victory over Morgan State in the Eagles' MEAC opener.
Janok tallied an impressive 48 assists, while Williams racked up 21 kills for NCCU.
The Eagles jumped out to a quick start as a unit, winning the first two sets 25-17 and 25-20. The Bears then took a set 25-20. After that, NCCU took control of the fourth set to finish off Morgan State, 25-21.
Williams, a Preseason All-MEAC selection, added two aces and 12 digs to her stat line to finish with 23 points. In addition to her 48 assists, Janok posted 11 digs defensively and a team-high four aces.
Senior Arlanda Faulkner was essential for the NCCU offensive attack, finishing the match with 14 kills. Seniors Celene Morris and McKayla Young played their part as well, ending the contest with seven kills apiece. Morris also recorded 11 digs for the Eagles' defense.
