PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- 
Maryland Eastern Shore defeated Hampton via sweep on Saturday to win the 2021 Hawk Invitational held inside the William P. Hytche Center.

The victory was the third straight win for the team.

Saturday's match also marked the squad's best offensive output as a team this season. Maryland Eastern Shore had a hitting percentage of .363 against Hampton. Their previous high for the year was .198 on two separate occasions.

"This was our last match before we got into conference play and you really starting to see the team come together," head coach Trevor Callarman said. "The offense is starting to click, so we are starting to hit our stride right now and this is the right time for it."

Senior middle blocker McKayla Young recorded a season-high seven kills and sophomore setter Lauren Janok tallied her fifth double-double of the season to highlight play for North Carolina Central in a 3-0 loss to Long Island University (LIU) on Saturday in the Duke Classic at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
