FAIRFAX, Va. -- Wrapping up the George Mason Invitational, Andrea Tsvetanova set a Coppin State volleyball record for the most assists in a three-set match against a non-conference team, tallying 41 in a 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-16) victory over the host Patriots on Saturday night.
In the effort, Tsvetanova directed the Eagles (5-5) to a season-high .308 hitting percentage.
Tsvetanova tallied 15 assists in the opening set, 14 in the second and 12 more in the third to establish the school-record. Her 41 assists are the most in a 3-set match by a Coppin player against any team since Oct. 10, 2014, when Chelsee Sauni had 42 in a win at Delaware State.
Tsvetanova directed a well-balanced attack as Miajavon Coleman (12), Paola Caten (11) and Sydney Hicks (10) all reached double digits in kills. Coleman hit an impressive .357 with six digs, while Hicks hit .421.
Caten also had eight digs, matching Tsvetanova and Aislynn Weaver for the second-most on the team to Ashley Roman's match-high 16. Roman reached the 1,000-dig plateau in the match, becoming just the fourth player in Coppin State history to do so.

Delaware State 3, Saint Francis 0
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- The Delaware State volleyball team has claimed the championship of The Crowne Plaza Albany-Desmond Invitational hosted by Siena College this weekend. The Hornets won the title with another dominating performance, topping St. Francis (Pa.) 3-0 on Saturday.
The scores were 25-22, 25-23 and 25-14.
The win was DSU's sixth straight, each by 3-0 scores. The Hornets are now a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)-best 10-1 this season, the team's best 11-match start since the program began in 1985.
Delaware State has recorded nine shutouts, won 18 consecutive sets and 31 of 35 sets played this season.
The win over St. Francis also avenged the Hornets' only loss of the season.
In Saturday's contest, Alondra Maldonado led the Hornets with a match-high 11 kills, while adding eight blocks. Maldonado was selected as the tournament's Most Outstanding Player after tallying 31 kills and 12 blocks (two solo) in the three matches.

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Howard University closed out the weekend on a high note, topping Quinnipiac in four sets (22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-16) at the Charm City Challenge, presented by Sir Speedy.
With the win, Howard snapped its six-match skid, while the Bobcats dropped to 1-8 on the season.
Junior outside hitter Alex Smith led the Bison with a match-high 16 kills while producing a .295 hitting percentage. Newcomer Bria Woodard notched her second career double-double (20 digs & 14 kills in the victory.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team outlasted the George Washington University Colonials in five sets on Saturday in the final day of the Dig the District Tournament.
"We really needed this win," head coach Trevor Callarman said. "We tried a lot of new stuff this weekend, but for this match we went with a more traditional lineup and the girls clicked right back in and I couldn't be more proud of the team's performance."
