MEAC Set for Busy Week 2 of 2021 Volleyball Season

2021 MEAC Volleyball Weekly Notes | 2021 MEAC Volleyball Statistics

The 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) volleyball season got underway this past week with Coppin State, Delaware State, Howard and Maryland Eastern Shore each getting into the win column, and this week promises even more as 27 matches are on the docket.

Delaware State is 3-0 on the young season after sweeping Saint Peter's, Bucknell and St. Francis Brooklyn at home this past weekend. Howard also notched multiple home victories this past weekend, taking out George Washington on Friday and Georgetown on Saturday.

Coppin State opened its season with a neutral-site win over Bethune-Cookman, while Maryland Eastern Shore notched a sweep of Manhattan in its first action since the 2019 season.

Delaware State's Alondra Maldonado was named MEAC Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, following a weekend that saw her hit .408 and average over four kills per set. Howard's Bira Woodard and Kayla Diaz were named Rookie of the Week and Setter of the Week, respectively, while Mauri Carver of Maryland Eastern Shore earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after a strong weekend at the net.

Norfolk State will open its 2021 season on Tuesday at home against local rival Hampton, while North Carolina Central -- which saw its action halted this past weekend -- is currently set to play host to rival North Carolina A&T State.

Delaware State was set to be home on Tuesday to take on Manhattan, but the match has been postponed.

This weekend's action will see all eight MEAC programs hitting the road to compete in a variety of non-conference tournaments.
