WYOMING, Mich. – North Carolina A&T State reached the finals of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Championship after winning three times on Friday.
The 12th-seeded Aggies started the day with a 4.5-2.5 win over the fourth-seeded McKendree in the second round and followed with a 4-2 win over fifth-seed Mount Mercy to reach the semifinals.
McKendree defeated top-seed Stephen F. Austin 4-1 before beating No. 13 Newman 4-0. Newman had taken down Mount Mercy 4.5-3.5 to reach the semifinals to face the Aggies. The two teams squared off for the second time on Friday.
The Aggies defeated McKendree 4.5-1.5 in the semifinals to reach the championship, where N.C. A&T will face seventh seed Wichita State Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
The semifinals and the finals of the Intercollegiate Singles Championship are scheduled for Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
Senior Ana Olaya, ranked as the No. 12 seed, won three times to reach the semifinals Tuesday and Wednesday. She beat fourth seed Jordan Mundt of Tusculum 518-501 and fifth seed Ayra Nur Jehan Aminuddin of Mount Mercy 628-567.
Olaya faces eighth seed Maryssa Carey of Indiana Tech, while the other semifinals are between the 18th seed Isabel Allen of McKendree and third seed Katie Robb of Delaware State.
