DOVER, Del., May 4, 2021 -- Delaware State freshman bowler Alyssa Breidegam has earned another season honor. Breidegam is among 20 first-year student-athletes named to the inaugural National Tenpin Coaches Associatio (NTCA) All-Freshman Team.

The team honors the top first-year bowlers in the Player Composite Performance Index (PCPI), a set of 16 major statistical categories that are weighted and factored in an attempt to identify the top producing NCAA bowlers. In order to qualify for the team, freshmen must have competed in a minimum of 50% of their team's frames during the season.

Breidegam was selected as the 2020-21 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Year and earned All-MEAC First Team honors.

She was tops on the Hornets with a 201.6 average in traditional play during the regular season, highlighted by a season-best 237 in the MEAC meet on Feb. 19-21. She averaged 200 or better in three tournaments this season including a season-best 208.4 in the MEAC Meet. In addition, Breidegam was the MEAC Bowler of the Week and Rookie of the Week on Feb. 2. She had three all-tourney selections  in the Hornets' five regular season tournament appearances this season.

"Our head coaches have traditionally chosen our All-American team, Rookies of the Year and Coaches of the Year," NTCA President John Williamson said. "We thought it would be fitting to honor some of the many talented young women entering NCAA bowling. This inaugural team is an indication of just how much talent we are drawing to our sport."
