Golf in First Place after Day 1, in the 2021 PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship

Gregory Odom leads the field 1-under-par

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL -- Three Bison placed in the top ten in the first round of the 2021 PGA WORKS Collegiate Championships, led by Gregory Odum shooting 1-under-par at the end of day one. Howard University leads the nine-team field by five strokes at The Players Championship (TPC Sawgrass) in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl.

Odom was Mr. Consistent throughout round one, recording three birdies and only committing two bogies once in the front nine and once in the back nine. His 13-pars was the second-highest mark on the day.  Odom currently the only player under par, at 1 under, entering Tuesday's second round.

Edrine Okong led the field, recording five birdies. Okong found his grooves on the par-five, shooting two-under. Okong currently sits tied for second place, shooting three-over-par. Everett Whitten is tied for ninth place shooting a six-over-par. 

Howard leads the field with 11 Birdies. 

Howard leads a strong field that hosts the 2021 Southwestern Athletic Conference Champion Prairie View A&M University, and the second-place team Alabama State University, the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion Florida A&M University and its second-place team North Carolina A&T University. 

The PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship is a 54-hole, stroke-play Championship consisting of three team divisions from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and other Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs), In addition, to two Individual Divisions for minority men and women players who are listed on the roster of their college team or are part of the PGA of America's Golf Management University programs.

Round two will tee off at 7:45 a.m. tomorrow.
