Morgan State Draws Oklahoma in NCAA Softball Bracket

Morgan State will take on overall No. 1 seed Oklahoma in the Norman regional (in Norman, Okla.) of the 2021 NCAA Softball Championship, as the 64-team field was announced Sunday evening.

The Bears, fresh off winning the first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) softball championship in program history, will face the Sooners on Friday at 8:30 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3. Texas A&M and Wichita State will also make up the Norman regional.

Morgan State (24-15) defeated North Carolina Central 10-5 on Saturday for the MEAC title after winning the Northern Division regular-season crown. The Bears are led by MEAC Championship Outstanding Performer Stephanie Rundlett, who got the win in all three tournament games, and Outstanding Coach Larry Hineline.

Oklahoma (45-2) won the Big XII title with a 10-2 six-inning win over Oklahoma State on Saturday and the Sooners have won their last five games. Ranked No. 1 in the nation, Oklahoma boasts Big XII Player of the Year Jocelyn Alo, Defensive Player of the Year Grace Lyons, Freshman of the Year Tiare Jennings and Coach of the Year Patty Gasso.

The regional rounds are double-elimination, with winners advancing to the Super Regionals and eventually feeding into the Women's College World Series.
