Morgan State Advances to MEAC Softball Championship Game

NORFOLK, Va., May 14, 2021 – 
Morgan State defeated Norfolk State 3-2 to advance to its second Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Championship game in program history on Friday afternoon at NSU Softball Field on the campus on Norfolk State University. 
 
Morgan State (23-15) was led by senior pitcher Stephanie Rundlett, who came on in relief in the third inning to record her 11th win of the season. She faced 11 batters, allowing just one hit and striking out three for the Bears. 
 
The Bears will face whichever team emerges from the elimination bracket in the championship game on Saturday at 12 p.m. The game will be streamed live on FloSoftball.
 
The Spartans will face the winner of North Carolina A&T State-North Carolina Central in an elimination game at 6 p.m.
 
Morgan scored first in the bottom of the first inning, when Ellen Ebbers hit a double to left center to score Sarah Tuzinski. They added two more runs in the bottom of the third and the fourth, with Aliya Ewell scoring on a wild pitch in the third.
 
Katrariina Delph doubled to right field in the fourth, scoring Jalian Young. 
 
Norfolk State (20-18) plated a run in the fourth, when Jade Dixon singled up the middle to score Alison Guckin, and then one more in the fifth when Brooke Bond hit her fourth home run of the season.  
 
Young was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Bears, while Ebbers and Delph had both RBIs.
