Former Ravens Star Jones Hired as Morgan State Tight Ends Coach

BALTIMORE, Md., May 11, 2021 – Former Baltimore Ravens star and Super Bowl hero Jacoby Jones joins Morgan State's football team as an assistant coach. 
 
Bears head coach Tyrone Wheatley's hiring of Jones is a welcome addition to the staff, bringing name recognition as an All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection, along with being a Super Bowl champion. Jones will coach tight ends.

His ability to connect with young men and develop them to excel both on and off the field has been proven throughout his young career," Wheatley added. "He is a rising star in this profession who is more than prepared to lead our tight ends and our program to greater heights."

Prior to joining Morgan State, Jones was hired as the wide receivers coach at Calvert Hall College High School on Oct 6, 2020.

Before Calvert Hall, he spent two seasons as 
an assistant coach at his alma mater Lane College. Jones coached the Dragons wide receivers from 2018-2019.

Jones arrived at Lane College in 2003 after transferring from Southeast Louisiana State. He played for the Dragons for three years before being drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft.
 
Over his nine-year career, Jones had 203 receptions for 2,733 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also had five kickoff returns for touchdowns and four punt returns for touchdowns.
 
One of Jones' most notable plays came during Super Bowl XLVII. Jones returned a kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown as the Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers 34-31. He also caught a 56-yard touchdown pass. Jones finished the contest with a Super Bowl record 290 total yards.

He also played for the San Diego Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015 and the Monterrey Steel of the National Arena League in 2017.
 
He signed a one-day contract with the Ravens on Sept. 29, 2017, officially retiring from football.
