MEAC Announces Weekly Softball Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., April 6, 2021 – Senior catcher Tuli Iosefa of Norfolk State has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, it was announced on Tuesday. Meanwhile, junior pitcher Mikayla Barnard of Morgan State is this week’s MEAC Pitcher of the Week, with freshman infielder Mia Ewell of Morgan State and freshman pitcher Kennedy Cameron of Norfolk State sharing MEAC Rookie of the Week honors.
 
Iosefa (C, 5-5, Sr., Virginia Beach, Va.) batted .600 (6-for-10) as the Spartans swept Coppin State in four games over the weekend. Iosefa hit a two-run single in Game 2 on Friday, followed by a three-run double in Game 1 and a two-run home run in Game 2 on Saturday. She had 10 RBIs and three runs scored during the series.
 
Barnard (P, 5-9, Jr., Ellicott City, Md.) improved to 6-2 on the season after picking up a pair of complete-game shutout wins (9-0 and 2-0) while earning a 0.00 ERA as the Lady Bears swept Delaware State. She surrendered 10 hits and one walk while striking out three batters.
 
Ewell (INF, 5-6, Fr., Portland, Ore.) hit .308 with four hits, four runs, two RBIs and a walk in the four-game series with Delaware State. In her best outing, she went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI with three stolen bases in the second game on Friday.
 
Cameron (P, 5-6, Fr., Longview, Texas) earned a Game 1 victory on Saturday against Coppin State as the Spartans tallied a 10-2 victory in five innings. Cameron pitched 4.2 innings, had a 1.50 ERA and allowed just one run and one hit while striking out two batters.

Seriah Brokenborough (Florida A&M)
 batted .467, going 7-for-15 with three RBIs and two runs scored as the Rattlers went 3-1 against South Carolina State.
 
Gabriella Williams (Florida A&M) went 1-1 with a 3.23 ERA against South Carolina State.
 
Haylee Bobos (Morgan State) helped lead the Lady Bears to a season-best six-game winning streak and an 8-0 record in the MEAC while batting .556 (5-for-9) with one home run, one double, three RBIs and three runs scored in the sweep over Delaware State.
 
Cam Anderson (Norfolk State) picked up a 9-1 Game 2 win over Coppin State on Friday and earned a 1.17 ERA while striking out eight batters in two appearances on the mound in the series.
 
DeAsia Lowther (South Carolina State) led S.C. State to a win 5-4 win of Florida A&M with two home runs, a double and a single in the win.
