DOVER, Del., April 28. 2021 -- Incoming Delaware State volleyball signee Karen Cordero of Western Nebraska Community College has been selected to the 2020-21 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-America First Team.

Cordero, an outside hitter from Chula Vista, Cal., also led all NJCAA players with 568 total kills this past season.

She helped lead Western Nebraska CC to a 27-7 overall record and a berth in the NJCAA national playoffs this spring.
Cordero tallied 25 kills to lead the Cougars to a 3-2 victory over Northeastern JC for the 2021 NJCAA Region IX title and national tournament berth.

She signed the National Letter of Intent to attend Delaware State and compete for the Hornets beginning in the fall 2021 volleyball season.

Cordero will join a Hornets squad that posted the team's best record in 10 years during the spring 2021 season. The Hornets also competed in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship this past season for the first time since 2010.

The Hornets are expected to return each letterwinner from this year's squad, including spring 2021 All-MEAC First Team honoree Sydney Lewis (MB), along with MEAC Rookie-of-the-Year/Second Team member Valeria Otero (OH) and All-MEAC Second Team selection Mayah Ngundam (OH).
