MEAC Announces Weekly Softball Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., April 27, 2021–Morgan State junior defensive player Kyley Fijalkowski has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, it was announced on Tuesday. The conference’s Pitcher of the Week honor is shared by Norfolk State sophomore Cam Andersen and North Carolina Central senior Kiara Hurley, and the Rookie of the Week honor goes to freshman outfielder Imara Harrell of North Carolina Central.
 
Fijalkowski (DP, 5-0, Fr., Lockport, N.Y.) batted a team-leading .556 during the week, going 5-for-9 with one home run, two RBIs and three runs scored. In a 13-8 victory over Drexel in the series opener, Finalkowski batted .600, going 3-for-5 and stealing one base.
 
Andersen (P, 5-5, So., Norfolk, Va.) picked up a Game 1 win over Delaware State over the weekend with a perfect 0.00 earned run average. In six innings of work, she held the Hornets scoreless while allowing four hits and striking out five batters.
 
Hurley (P, 5-5, Sr., Maumee, Ohio) notched two wins over North Carolina A&T State, striking out 11 batters and finishing with a 0.78 earned run average.
 
Harrell (OF, 5-6, Fr., Mooresville, N.C.) batted .444 in three games over the weekend, hitting safely in each contest. She also hit her first collegiate home run in the series versus NCAT, a two-run shot in Sunday’s series finale.

Sarah Tuzinski (Morgan State)
 won the series-opener over Drexel with an ERA of 1.75.
 
Tuli Iosefa (Norfolk State) batted .429 with two doubles and a home run in the Spartans’ 3-1 week against Delaware State.
 
Kendall Macauley (North Carolina A&T State) led her team with a .429 batting average along with two RBIs and three runs scored.
 
S’Nyiah Stinson (North Carolina A&T State) went 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA and 10 strikeouts in three games.
 
Joirea Dumas (North Carolina Central) batted .250 with 4 RBIs as the Eagles went 2-1 versus North Carolina A&T State.
