GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina Central University tees off for the opening round of the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Golf Championship on Monday, April 19, at the Bryan Park Golf Club in Greensboro, N.C.
"We are very excited and optimistic," said NCCU interim men's golf coach
Kendra Greene. "We have had the opportunity to improve in every tournament we have played in this spring, against competitive teams and on challenging courses. The conference championship will feature very competitive golf at a wonderful golf course."
The five golfers representing NCCU at this year's MEAC Golf Championship are sophomore Daniel Barbare (Raleigh, N.C.), freshman Trey Morse (New Orleans, La.), junior Travis Jackson (Laurinburg, N.C.), freshman Kendall Wallace (Blythewood, S.C.), and junior Hogan Lang (Lockport, N.Y.).
Barbare enters the conference championship event with a team-best scoring average of 75.5, including a career-low round of 70 during the HBCU Invitational. Morse and Wallace are tied for the squad's second-lowest scoring average at 81.3, followed closely by Lang's 81.4.
Joining NCCU in the championship field are Florida A&M, Howard (which is in its first season of varsity competition), and North Carolina A&T State.
Bethune-Cookman and Maryland Eastern Shore both opted out of the season. Five-time defending champion Augusta University will not compete due to a positive COVID-19 test within the Jaguars men's golf program.
The three-round championship will be played over the course of two days, beginning on Monday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start for the first two rounds. The final round on Tuesday will start at 8 a.m.
Live scoring will be available through
