GREENSBORO, N.C., April 19, 2021—With 27 holes in the books, Florida A&M leads the team standings at the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Golf Championship at Bryan Park Golf Club, hosted by North Carolina A&T State.
The Rattlers are sitting at 454 (298-156) to top the leaderboard, 10 shots better than second-place North Carolina A&T State, which shot a combined 464 (313-151). Howard is third at 467 (305-162) and North Carolina Central rounds out the standings at 487 (330-157).
The second round was shortened to nine holes after teams played the full 18 in the first round.
Florida A&M’s Ethan Mangum holds the individual lead after the first day, sitting at a 1-over 109 (70-39). His first-round 70 was the only under-par round in the opening 18, and he is joined in the top five by teammates Prince Cunningham (third, 6-over 114 [75-39]) and Mahindra Lutchman (tied for fourth, 7-over 115 [75-40]).
Diego Gonzalez of North Carolina A&T State is second on the leaderboard after shooting a 5-over 113 (74-39). His teammate Xavier Williams is among four players tied for fourth at 7-over after going 80-35 for a 115.
Williams was the lone player to shoot the final nine of the day under par with that 1-under 35.
North Carolina Central’s Daniel Barbare and Howard’s Gregory Odom are also in that tie for fourth. Barbare went 78-37, while Odom shot 75-40.
Howard also has a pair tied for eighth at 9-over: Edrine Okong (79-38) and Joshua Siplin (79-38), while there is a three-way tie for 10
th between FAMU’s Cameron Riley and Mulbe Dillard and Howard’s Everett Whitten (10-over 118).
The final round will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
