EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T will serve as the host for the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Golf Championship Monday-Tuesday, April 19-20, at the Bryan Park Golf Club in Greensboro.
"When we started the golf programs, having the MEAC come here for their championship was a goal we set," said A&T men's coach Richard Watkins. "For North Carolina A&T men's golf to have an opportunity to showcase the magnificent and challenging golf course at Bryan Park is a great step in the right direction for the program. We are super excited about having the MEAC come to Greensboro."
Bryan Park is a par-72, 7,057-yard course that opened in 1974 and was modified in 1988. It has Bentgrass greens and Bermuda fairways. The course received four stars from Golf Digest, and the Greensboro News & Record selected the course as the best golf course in a Reader's Choice Tops In the Triad Contest.
The championship will feature five-time defending champion Augusta University, Florida A&M (FAMU), Howard (which is in its first season of varsity competition), the N.C. A&T Aggies and North Carolina Central (NCCU).
Bethune-Cookman (B-CU) and Maryland Eastern Shore (MDES) both opted out of the season.
The Aggies are coming off a second-place finish at the Black College Golf Coaches Association Invitational at the end of March, where they finished behind FAMU. Junior Diego Sanchez finished fifth with a 2-over 144 for the tournament. Junior Xavier Williams placed seventh with a 4-over 146.
The three-round championship will be played for two days, beginning on Monday at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start for the first two rounds. The final round on Tuesday will start at 8 a.m.
Live scoring will be available through GolfStat.
The NCAA Div. I Men's Golf Selection Show will be Wednesday, May 5, on Golf Channel.
