Augusta University Out of 2021 MEAC Men’s Golf Championship

NORFOLK, Va., April 18, 2021 – A positive COVID-19 test within the Augusta University men’s golf program means the team will not compete in the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Golf Championship.

“Obviously we are tremendously disappointed for the student-athletes, coaches and staff of Augusta University,” MEAC Commissioner Dennis E. Thomas said. “They worked extremely hard to get to where they are and this is extremely unfortunate. But that’s the world we live in today. Augusta is one of the best men’s golf programs in Division I.”

The Jaguars were seeking their sixth straight MEAC title, having won the conference championship in each of their first five seasons as an associate member (the 2020 championship was not held because of the COVID-19 pandemic).

Florida A&M, Howard, North Carolina A&T State and North Carolina Central will compete for this year’s title.
