DOVER Del., April 11, 2021 -- Delaware State's Alyssa Breidegam and Stefanny Toala have been honored by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) for their performances this season.
Breidegam and Toala are listed among Honorable Mention to the 2021 NTCA All-Northeast Region Team.
The honors are the latest this season for the pair, who helped lead the Hornets to the 2021 NCAA Championship.
Breidegam was selected as the 2020-21 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Year and named to the All-MEAC First Team, while Toala was a first team pick.
Breidegam led the Hornets with a 201.6 pinfall average in traditional play during the regular season, highlighted by a season-best 237 in the MEAC meet on Feb. 19-21. She averaged 200 or better in three tournaments this season including a season-best 208.4 in the MEAC Meet. The MEAC Bowler of the Week and Rookie of the Week on Feb. 2, Breidegam is one of just three MEAC bowlers to average over 200 pins on the season. She has three all-tourney awards in the Hornets' five tournament appearances this season.
Toala, the 2018-19 MEAC Rookie of the Year, averaged 196.3 in traditional competition this regular season. She was named to the All-Tournament Team at the MEAC Meet, ranking fourth among 29 competitors with a total pinfall of 1,059 for a five-game average of 211.8, topping the 200 mark in each of the last four games, including a season-high 258, second-best in the field.
In addition, Toala was second among 76 weekend competitors with a total pinfall of 1038 for a five-game average of 207.6 at the Northeast Invitational.
