North Carolina A&T State Finishes Third in Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. -- 
North Carolina A&T State went 2-1 on the final day of the Columbia 300 Music City Classic to finish in third place in the bowling tournament on Sunday at the Smyrna Bowling Center. 

The fourth-ranked team in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, the Aggies had their consecutive tournament win streak stopped at four. But the Aggies (44-8) played well despite many of their opponents being nationally ranked. 

The Aggies started the day by defeating nationally-ranked Louisiana Tech, the sixth-ranked team in the NTCA poll, 4-1 in a best-of-seven bakers match.  

Senior Cameron Strombeck led the Aggies with 1,065 total pins over five games to average 213. She finished in fifth place. Freshman Melanie Katen followed her in seventh place with 1,052 total pins for a five-game average of 210.40.

Senior Ana Olaya was in 13th place with 1,022 total pins over five games to average 204.40.

Monmouth Takes Third at Northeast Roundup

LODI, N.J. -- 
The Monmouth University bowling team earned a third-place finish on Friday afternoon at the Northeast Roundup, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson at Lodi Lanes.
 
The Hawks went 1-3 head-to-head in the Friday event, with a victory over Wagner. 

Jamie Phelan earned a second-place finish, while Amanda Zappacosta, Jenna Lehrer and Saige Yamada each turned in individual 200+ games.

UAB Finishes 17th at Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. -- 
After facing tough competition this weekend, the UAB bowling team finished 17th at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn. 
 
The Blazers picked up wins against No. 14 Maryville and Kentucky Wesleyan. 

Jamie Krasnigor led the way with a total pinfall of 942 to finish in 38th place. Katie Hurley (934) placed 44thto finish the Blazers in the top 50 individually.
