NORFOLK, Va., March 9, 2021 — Senior catcher/designated player Tuli Iosefa of Norfolk State and
junior center fielder Kalita Dennis of Howard have been selected Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Co-Players of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, it was announced on Tuesday. Joining Iosefa and Davis on this week’s MEAC honor roll are
sophomore pitcher Kirsten Greene of Norfolk State (Pitcher of the Week) and
freshman outfielder Sydni Jones of Howard (Rookie of the Week).
Iosefa (C/DP, 6-5, Sr., Virginia Beach, Va.) keyed the Norfolk State offensive attack against Cleveland State, batting .545 over the four-game series while going 6-for-11 with three RBIs as the Spartans won three of the four contests. She scored five runs over the last two games and had a home run in the final meeting.
Dennis (CF, 5-7, Jr., Elk Grove, Calif.) batted .429 during the week after going 6-for-14 with four doubles and a home run. She had three doubles in an 8-2 win and a home run in a 10-9 win, both against Robert Morris.
Greene (P, 5-6, So., Hayes, Va.) saw action in three of the four games versus Cleveland, winning two of them. She finished the week with a 1.40 earned run average and collected 13 strikeouts.
Jones (OF, 5-8, Fr. Whitter, Calif.) captured MEAC Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks after playing a key role as the Bison went 3-1 against Robert Morris. She went 6-for-14 (.429) with seven RBIs and three runs scored. In her team’s 10-9 victory in the final meeting, she batted .750 (3-for-4) with four RBIs and a double.
Other Top Performers
Kianna Carr (Howard) won three games against Robert Morris during the week. She amassed a 5.00 ERA and struck out 19 batters.
Kendall Macauley (North Carolina A&T State) batted .529 despite her team going winless during the week, collecting nine hits in 17 atbats with a pair of doubles and five RBIs.
