BALTIMORE, Md. -- 
The Delaware State volleyball team defeated MEAC rival Morgan State for the second night in a row, and third time this season, topping the Bears 3-0 at Hill Field House Friday evening. The scores were 25-20, 25-20 and 25-13.

The Hornets have won their last three matches to improve to 10-4 overall and 6-3 in MEAC play. Delaware State has clinched the No. 2 spot in the Northern Division race and a berth in the upcoming conference championship tournament.

Freshman Valeria Otero led Delaware State with 10 kills on 23 attacks (.348), while Sydney Lewis had five kills on 11 attempts (.455), in addition to leading all players with 4.5 blocks, including three solo.

Libero Maria Caratini, filling in for injured starter Jasmal Cruz, had a match-high 11 digs.

Kristi Gomez was second on the Hornets with eight kills, while Mayah Ngundam contributed seven kills (.385) and two block assists to the win.

Setter Jelena Dukic had a match-high 20 assists, while Alayna Lacy came off the bench to add 15 helpers,  to go along with three aces to lead all players in the contest.

North Carolina A&T State picked up its ninth straight win Friday evening, avenging its only loss of the season by coming from behind and outlasting East Carolina in five sets (20-25, 14-25, 28-26, 25-14, 17-15) in Minges Coliseum.

Fatimah Shabazz exploded for 25 kills, hitting .467 for the match. Courteney Pitt added 10 kills, while Edie Brewer notched a double-double with 32 assists and 13 digs and Addy Warfield added 16 assists.

Andrea Laboy-Rivera led the defense with 19 digs.
