NORFOLK, Va., March 2, 2021North Carolina A&T State graduate student Chanin Scott and Howard freshman Anzhane’ Hutton were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Howard’s Destiny Howell was named Rookie of the Week, while North Carolina Central sophomore Anissa Rivera was named Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Scott (G, 6-0, Gr., Charlotte, N.C.) averaged 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game as the Aggies ended their regular season this past weekend with two wins over North Carolina Central. She had 23 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists and four steals on Saturday, and on Sunday, she was two assists shy of becoming the first Aggie to record a triple-double (11 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists). She also had six steals in that contest.
 
Hutton (F, 6-0, Fr., Cedar Hill, Texas) averaged a double-double this past weekend as Howard ended its regular season with a pair of wins over Delaware State. On Saturday, she dropped 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, going 7-for-11 from the floor, and on Sunday, she had nine points, 14 rebounds and three assists on 4-for-8 shooting. For the weekend, Hutton was a combined 11-for-19 (.579) from the floor.
 
Howell (G, 5-11, Fr., Queens, N.Y.) scored in double figures in both games this past weekend, running her streak to four games overall, including a career-best 15 points on Sunday against Delaware State. She was 6-for-9 from the floor with two 3-pointers in that contest, and she had 10 points in Saturday’s game – hitting four field goals and two 3-pointers.
 
Rivera (F, 6-1, So., Capitol Heights, Md.) averaged 15.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game against North Carolina A&T State this past weekend. Of her 30 rebounds (15 in each game), 23 came on the defensive end. On Saturday, Rivera added four blocks and a steal to the stat sheet, while Sunday saw her add two more blocks and a pair of steals.
 
Other Top Performers
Hope Evans (Coppin State) dished out five assists on Sunday against Morgan State.
 
Aliyah Lawson (Coppin State) had 24 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals on Saturday against Morgan State.
 
Jalynda Salley (Coppin State) grabbed seven rebounds and blocked a shot on Sunday against Morgan State.
 
Jayla Atmore (Morgan State) dropped a season-high 19 points on Sunday against Coppin State.
 
Ashia McCalla (Morgan State) averaged 14.5 points per game in a pair of wins over Coppin State – 16 on Saturday and 13 on Sunday.
 
Sean Kelly Darks (North Carolina A&T State) scored 14 points on Sunday against North Carolina Central and averaged 11.0 points and 3.0 steals for the weekend.
