NORFOLK, Va., March 17, 2021North Carolina Central’s Stipan Madzar was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today, as well as Rookie of the Week. North Carolina Central’s Jade Houston was named Women’s Tennis Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.
 
Madzar (Fr., Split, Croatia) won his match at No. 1 singles on Thursday, defeating College of Charleston’s Guido Argentini 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the Eagles’ 4-3 victory – their first of the season.
 
Houston (Fr., Raleigh, N.C.) went 2-0 for the week to stretch her winning streak to four matches, picking up wins over UNC Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State. She defeated UNCG’s Emily Ory 4-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-1, before taking a 6-2, 6-0 win over NCAT’s Florielvis Hurtado Pernaleta at No. 3 singles.

Vansh Kapoor (Coppin State) picked up a doubles win over George Mason.
 
Sergiu Medesan (Coppin State) defeated George Mason’s Ryan Charles 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
 
Arielle Nealy (Florida A&M) defeated Troy’s Kristina Kukaras 6-2, 6-1.
 
Zoe Fraser (Norfolk State) picked up singles and doubles victories against Christopher Newport.
 
Ignacio Guevel (Norfolk State) defeated Richmond’s Erwin Campbell 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 (7-2) at No. 5 singles.
 
Santiago Rendon (Norfolk State) defeated Temple’s Amine Zraidi 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
 
Laura Ruiz (Norfolk State) defeated Christopher Newport’s Karina Crivtonencu 7-5, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
 
Manuela Sofia Jiminez (North Carolina A&T State) claimed the Aggies’ first point of the season with a 6-2, 6-1 win over College of Charleston’s Elanor Campbell.
 
Nolan Martino (North Carolina A&T State) defeated Longwood’s Sebastian Mezo 5-7, 7-5, 10-3 in No. 6 singles.
 
Mike Ogundele (North Carolina A&T State) defeated Longwood’s Andrew Ilett 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 for his second collegiate win.
 
Renata Ruiz Rabadan (North Carolina A&T State) defeated Vikorija Vaselinova of Queens (N.C.) 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (6).
