Delaware State freshman Valeria Otero was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, and Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced today.
North Carolina A&T State senior Edie Brewer Setter of the Week honors and
North Carolina A&T State junior Andrea Laboy-Rivera was named Defensive Specialist of the Week.
Otero (5-9, Fr., OH, Manati, Puerto Rico) recorded her first collegiate double-double in a four-set win over Norfolk State this past Thursday, accounting for 14 kills and 10 digs, while also recording a pair of service aces and a block. She hit .244 for the match, and her 14 kills tied a season high.
Brewer (6-0, Sr., S/RS, West Chester, Ohio) recorded a double-double in her first match of the season on Friday against East Carolina. The MEAC Preseason Player of the Year racked up 30 assists and 11 digs in the four-set defeat.
Laboy-Rivera (5-5, Jr., L, Coamo, Puerto Rico) had 24 digs for the Aggies on Friday against East Carolina, averaging 6.0 digs per set.

Miajavon Coleman (Coppin State) had 14 kills and nine digs against Temple.
Kareemah Hopkins (Coppin State) had 34 assists and seven digs against Temple.
Ashley Roman (Coppin State) reached the 500-dig mark for her career with 19 against Temple.
