BALTIMORE, Md. -- 
The Howard University Bison swept past Coppin State 67-45 in a Sunday mantanee' in the PAC Arena in MEAC action on Sunday afternoon. 

Jayla Thornton paced the Bison with a game-high 17 points.

Howard improved to 12-3 overall and 8-2 in the MEAC Northern Division on the season. Coppin State fell to 2-10 overall and 2-8 in MEAC play.

Norfolk State 65, North Carolina A&T State 54

NORFOLK, Va. -- 
One day after putting a scare into MEAC Southern Division-leading North Carolina A&T State before losing by five points, Norfolk State finished the job. Senior guard Armani Franklin made the most of her Senior Day, scoring a season-high 17 points to lead the Spartans to a 65-54 win Sunday at Echols Hall.

E'Lexus Davis scored 16 points and another senior, Mangela Ngandjui, added 15 for the Spartans (3-7, 2-4 MEAC), who handed the Aggies (10-2, 7-1) their first MEAC defeat of the season.

A North Carolina Central women's basketball team that only had seven active players on Sunday threatened to pull out a tough road win against Georgia Southern squad that played twice as many players before falling 73-65 inside Hanner Fieldhouse.
