Lexus Brown drove the only run of the day for the North Carolina Central University softball team in a 20-1 loss to undefeated and nationally-ranked University of Kentucky as the Eagles dropped their first two games at the Campbell University Invitational Saturday.
Senior first baseman
Joirea Dumas hit safely in both contests for the Eagles as she has started the season on a three-game hit streak. She is now batting .571 on the season.
NCCU (0-3 Overall) will have to face the 12th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats again on Sunday at 10 a.m., before concluding play at the Campbell Invite against the host Camels at 5:30 p.m.

NORFOLK, Va. – More than 11 months after its last official game, the Norfolk State softball team began its 2021 season on Saturday afternoon with a win over Morehead State. The Eagles returned the favor in game 2 as the teams split a doubleheader at the NSU Softball Field.
Norfolk State scored three runs in the first inning of the season on the way to an 8-6 victory over MSU. The Eagles, meanwhile, were also playing their first games of the year. They benefitted from five unearned runs on five NSU errors as they took the second game, 9-5, during a cold evening in Norfolk.
Senior
Tuli Iosefa and sophomore
Cam Andersen each drove in two runs in the NSU victory. Andersen also got the win in the circle in her Spartan debut.
Junior
Gabby Vaughan had three hits on the day, including an RBI double in the first inning as NSU started the first game of the season with a 3-0 lead. Iosefa hit an RBI groundout in the first, and she also belted a solo homer in the fourth when the Spartans scored three more runs. Senior
Shelby DesChamps also had an RBI hit as NSU went ahead 6-1.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A season opener that seems like it would never start after three-postponements due to wintery weather.
The first game since Mar. 12, 2020, due to covid-19, a game delayed as both teams cleared snow and ice from the field, finally took place on a frigid afternoon at the Nationals Youth Academy. In their first game of the 2021 season, The Howard University Bison fell to the Army Black Knights in a 16-4 (5) contest.

Sydney Hixenbaugh got the nod in the circle pitched two innings, giving up three runs on four hits and throwing a wild pitch.
The Golden Knights (1-0, overall) jumped out first, recording the first run of the season of a single to right field, taking an early 1-0 lead.
