Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) basketball begins the final stretch of the season with more conference action this coming week. Conference play will continue after a week that saw Howard become the third school to cancel its season.
Having won five in a row, Morgan State sits atop the MEAC Northern Division with a 6-2 record in conference play. The surging Bears will welcome third-place Norfolk State to Hill Field House on Saturday and Sunday. Both games will be streamed live on FloHoops.
North Carolina A&T State will look to extend its five-game winning streak when the Aggies welcome South Carolina State to the Corbett Sports Center for their third and fourth meetings of the season on Sunday and Monday.
Those games will also be live on FloHoops.
Norfolk State’s Devante Carter was named MEAC Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, after a near triple double in the win over Coppin State. He poured in a career-high 31 points to go along with eight boards, seven assists, and two steals. His 31 points were the most scored by a Norfolk State player in four years. He averaged 23.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in the two games against Coppin State.
Morgan State’s Malik Miller was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week after logging his sixth double-double of the year. He finished with 19 points and 17 rebounds in the win over Delaware State, while also adding three steals and a pair of blocks. The 17 boards were the most by a MEAC player this season. He leads the conference in rebounding with 8.9 per game, which is 48th in the country.
The Tarke brothers continue to have their names all over the weekly honors. This time it was Nendah Tarke, who continues to assert himself as the top freshman in the league. The younger Tarke brother was named MEAC Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season.
