Coppin State 77, Marshall 69

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- 
Jaia Alexander and Aliyah Lawson helped lead the way for the Coppin State women's basketball team in a huge 77-69 victory over Marshall inside the Cam Henderson Center Saturday afternoon.
 
Having won two straight, Coppin moves to 4-3 on the season, while The Herd fall to 3-3.
 
Alexander led all players with 24 points and seven rebounds, as she shot 58% from the field (10-17) and shot 66.7% from beyond the arch (2-of-3). Lawson dished in 22 points shooting, 7-10 from the free-throw line, and made three 3-pointers.  

Mossi Staples also scored in double digits with 14 points and a team-high five assists.

As a team, Coppin went 49 percent from the field, and 36 percent from beyond the arc. The Eagles outnumbered Marshall all around defensively, with 33 defensive rebounds, five team blocks and four team steals.

Howard 64, Hofstra 62 (OT)

WASHINGTON, D.C. --
MEAC preseason favorite Howard picked up its fourth win in its last five games Saturday afternoon in Burr Gymnasium, outlasting Hofstra 64-62 in overtime.

Destiny Howell sank a layup with five seconds left in the extra frame to give the Bison (4-4) the win.

Howell led the way with 17 points, while Iyanna Warren added 10 points and eight assists. Anzhane' Hutton, the reigning MEAC Rookie of the Year, grabbed a team-high 21 rebounds and finished one point shy of a double-double.

Saint Peter's 77, Delaware State 50

DOVER, Del. -- 
The Delaware State University women's basketball team dropped a 77-50 non-conference contest at home to the Saint Peter's University Peacocks on Saturday.
 
Freshman guard Joy Watkins led the Hornets offense with 17 points, including knocking down a game-high four 3-pointers. She also hauled in four rebounds and took the ball away from the Peacocks once.
 
Senior forward Zoe Holmes notched her second consecutive double-double with 11 points and a game-best 11 rebounds.

Hampton 56, Norfolk State 52

HAMPTON, Va. --
Camille Downs led Norfolk State with 10 points on Saturday, but the Spartans fell 56-52 to former MEAC rival Hampton University in the Convocation Center.

Deja Francis added nine points, while the Spartans got eight points each from Armani Franklin and Mahoganie Williams. Franklin also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

North Carolina A&T State 86, South Carolina State 46

GREENSBORO, N.C. --
Nicole Gwynn led the way with 14 points off the bench, but South Carolina State fell 86-46 to North Carolina A&T State Saturday afternoon in the Corbett Sports Center.

Briauna Thompson added 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds for the Bulldogs.
