MEAC Announces Weekly Bowling Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 9, 2021North Carolina A&T State sophomore Melanie Katen was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Delaware State’s Emily Breidegam was named Rookie of the Week.
 
Katen (So., San Jose, Calif.) came in seventh at the Track Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State this past weekend, helping the Aggies come in third. She averaged 210.8 pins in traditional play, totaling 1,054 pins in five games – including a weekend-best 237 in a win over No. 9 Louisiana Tech. She topped the 200-pin mark four times.
 
Breidegam (Fr., Reading, Pa.) averaged 195.8 pins in traditional play at the Track Kat Klash, totaling 979 pins in five games to come in 27th. She broke 200 twice, including a weekend-best 225 against Louisiana Tech, and she posted a 215 in her collegiate debut against No. 1 Nebraska.
 
Other Top Performers
Gabriella Ochoa Hubbard (Maryland Eastern Shore) averaged 185.6 pins at the Track Kat Klash and bowled a weekend-best 226 against Central Missouri.
 
Brooke Roberts (Maryland Eastern Shore) averaged 203.6 pins at the Track Kat Klash, bowling three games of 200 or better (including a 228 against Prairie View A&M).
