PRINCESS ANNE, Md. -- 
Coppin State clinched its second-straight winning season with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-17, 25-10, 25-9) victory at Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday night at Hytche Center.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 14-10 overall and 8-4 in the MEAC, while the Hawks fell to 11-12 on the year and 6-6 in league play.
 
Paola Caten and Miajavon Coleman had 15 kills apiece while combining to hit .369 from their outside positions. Caten notched a double-double with 12 digs and made just four errors on 29 swings to hit .379, while Coleman swung at a .361 clip.
 
Chudear Tut also impressed with ten kills on .381 hitting as Hope Casel tallied a season-high eight kills on a .350 hitting percentage. 
 
Andrea Tsvetanova also picked up a double-double, recording 40 assists and 10 digs while adding four aces on the offensive end. Tsvetanova led Coppin to a .320 hitting percentage, while the defense, led by Ashley Roman's match-high 20 digs, held the Hawks to .059 hitting.

Ahzhi Coleman led all players with three blocks.

Delaware State 3, Morgan State 0

DOVER, Del. -- 
Delaware State finished its 2021 home schedule with a 13-0 record with a 3-0 victory over Morgan State in Memorial Hall Friday evening. The scores were 25-19, 25-17 and 25-15.

The Hornets blanked the Bears for the second time this season to improve to 22-3 overall and 10-2 in the MEAC. Delaware State was tied with Howard for first place in the conference standings entering Friday's match.  

Delaware State won 39 of 40 sets in its home matches this season. 

The Hornets also posted their school-record 19th shutout this season and moved to within one victory of tying the team record for wins in a season. The 1987 squad posted an overall record of 23-6.

In Friday's match, Alondra Maldonado led the Hornets with 10 kills, while Mayah Ngundam, playing her final match in Memorial Hall, tallied nine winners without an error on 11 attacks (.818). Ngundam also had three blocks, one solo, in the contest.

Sydney Lewis contributed seven kills on 11 attacks (.545 hitting pct.), to go along with five blocks.  

Maldonado was second on the Hornets with four blocks.

Three Bison reached double figures in kills Friday evening in Burr Gymnasium as Howard picked up its seventh straight win with a 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-17, 25-22) defeat of North Carolina Central.

Dami Awojobi led the way with 15 kills for the Bison, while Cimone Woodard added 14 kills and four aces and twin sister Bria Woodard chipped in 13 to go along with nine digs.

Cimone Woodard hit .619, commiting just one error.

Kayla Diaz and Milexa Cardona each had 25 assists, while Cardona added  a team-high 11 digs.

Norfolk State 3, South Carolina State 0

NORFOLK, Va. -- 
The trio of Paola Matos, Shonte Seale and Rachel Williams combined for 25 kills Friday night to lead Norfolk State to a convincing 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-23) win over South Carolina State at Gill Gymnasium.

The win was the eighth of the season for the Spartans (8-15 overall, 4-8 MEAC), their most since the 2013 team tallied 11.

Norfolk State hit .289 as a team Friday and tied its season high with 10 aces in completing the season sweep of the Bulldogs (0-22, 0-12).

Matos hit .381 with 11 kills against just three errors. Williams and Seale both added seven kills while combing for seven of the team's aces, four off Seale's jump serve. Caris Cross led the way with 33 assists, while libero Nicole Rodriguez led the defense as usual with 20 digs.
