Morgan State Wins Coppin State Lady Eagles Invitational

BALTIMORE, Md. -- 
The Morgan State Lady Bears bowling team went a perfect 5-0 on Sunday and won in the championship match against Caldwell University to claim the Coppin State Invitational Championship.

Along the way, Ashanti Fernandes earned All-Tournament honors with her scoring in traditional play on Sunday.

Sunday's format consisted of five 5-game total pinfall Baker matches. The first four matches were a continuation of Round Robin matches against the tournament field. The final match was a head-to-head match based on seeding to determine the final outcome in the standings. At the end of 9 rounds, Morgan State was in 1st place and 112 pins ahead of 2nd place Caldwell.

Aggies Finish Top-Three in Another Tournament

MILLSBORO, Del. -- 
North Carolina A&T State finished third at Maryland Eastern Shore's Hawk Classic bowling tournament following Sunday's bracket play. The Aggies, ranked fifth in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA), have finished in the top-3 in all four tournaments this season. 

In the first match, A&T faced No. 3 seed Farleigh Dickinson. 

The Aggies fell behind after dropping Game 1, 179-144, but bounced back with a match-high 235 in the second game. With the match tied at 2, two sub-200 games from A&T allowed FDU to win, 4-2.

Delaware State's Nassberg Finishes Top-5 in Hawk Classic

MILLSBORO, Del. -- 
The No. 14 Delaware State University bowling team competed over the weekend in the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic hosted by University of Maryland Eastern Shore this past weekend.
 
The Hornets were led by the top-five finish from sophomore Saralyne Nassberg, who finished fourth overall in a field of 95 bowlers. Nassberg rolled an average of 219.20 over the course of five traditional games, with her highest of the weekend being game three, where she bowled a 241.

Maryland Eastern Shore Competes in Home Meet, the Hawk Classic

MILLSBORO, Del. -- 
Maryland Eastern Shore rebounded after the first two days of the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic to win three straight and to move up two spots in the final standings to ninth place, and head into the winter break in a better frame of mind.

The National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) No. 20 Hawks opened bracket play against Wilmington University and dropped the opening game of the best-of-seven Baker match 238-139 and head coach Roger Petrin had already seen enough.

The Hawks won the next four games to take the opening match against the Wildcats, 4-1. Petrin said that match was about learning how not to lose as the team held on despite Wilmington having chances.

Monmouth Competes in Last Tournament of the Fall

MILLSBORO, Del. -- The Monmouth University bowling team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic Invitational over the weekend.

Monmouth went 5-8 over the three-day event hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore, facing off against numerous ranked teams to close out their fall slate. The team went 2-3 in Baker play on Friday, falling to #8 Fairleigh Dickinson, #12 Sacred Heart, and #23 LIU.

Jenna Lehrer led the Hawks in traditional play on Saturday, placing 26th out of 95 total bowlers at the event.

Coppin State Finishes Fourth in Lady Eagle Invitational

BALTIMORE, Md. -- 
Coppin State's bowling team wrapped up the weekend hosting the CSU Lady Eagles Invitational with a fourth-place finish.

The Eagles went 4-6 finishing with 8,340 total pins after 50 games.

Coppin's Logan Brown finished in third place after totaling 982 after five games averaging 196.40. Her third-place finish landed her on the All-Tournament Team. She was also awarded the high game of the tournament with a 244.

UAB Closes Fall with Fifth-Place Finish

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- 
The UAB bowling team closed out the fall slate of its schedule at the ISTAP Hornet Classic in Montgomery, Ala. over the weekend. The Blazers finished with a record of 4-8 to place fifth overall.
 
The first day saw five baker games. UAB opened up with a 918-823 win over Southern. The Green and Gold saw four close games to end the day, but fell to Emmanuel (957-94), Alabama A&M (780-761), Alabama State (880-831) and Tusculum (1003-957).
 
Saturday saw four traditional games.
