MEAC Announces Weekly Bowling Honors, presented by Coca-Cola

NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 23, 2021Delaware State sophomore Saralyne Nassberg was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Delaware State’s Emily Breidegam was named Rookie of the Week.
 
Nassberg (So., Modesto, Calif.) had the fourth-best traditional average—tops among MEAC bowlers—at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic this past weekend, averaging 219.2 pins and topping the 200-pin mark in four of her five games. Her weekend best was 241, and Nassberg also averaged 20.57 pins per frame in Baker play.
 
Breidegam (Fr., Reading, Pa.) was the highest-finishing MEAC freshman at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic, averaging 194.6 pins in traditional play. Her high for the weekend was a 268—the second-highest single-game total in the MEAC so far this season—and she topped the 200=pin mark twice.
 
Other Top Performers
Logan Brown (Coppin State) was named All-Tournament at the Lady Eagles Invitational after averaging 196.4 pins in traditional play and bowling a weekend high of 244.
 
TaVera Johnson (Coppin State) averaged 179.2 pins in traditional play at the Lady Eagles Invitational, finishing ninth.
 
Paulina Torres (Maryland Eastern Shore) bowled a weekend-best 202 and averaged 187.4 at the Hawk Classic.
 
Jenna Lehrer (Monmouth) averaged 195.2 pins at the Hawk Classic, bowling a weekend-high of 216.
 
Sierra Poole (Monmouth) averaged 190.5 pins at the Hawk Classic.
 
Ashanti Fernandes (Morgan State) was All-Tournament in the Lady Eagles Invitational after helping the Bears win the tournament, averaging 192.0 pins in traditional play and bowling a weekend-high 203.
 
Melanie Katen (North Carolina A&T State) was 10th individually at the Hawk Classic with a traditional pinfall average of 207.4, topping the 200-pin mark three times.
 
Jamie Krasnigor (UAB) averaged 187.0 pins in traditional play at the ISTAP Hornet Classic.
