NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 17, 2021—North Carolina A&T State senior Ericka Quesada was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. North Carolina A&T State’s Chloe Newberry was named Rookie of the Week.
Quesada (Sr., Heredia, Costa Rica) averaged 22.4 pins per frame at the first MEAC meet of the season this past weekend, leading the Aggies to a perfect 8-0 mark in Baker play. For the weekend, she had a 92.2-percent fill rate, while her strike rate was at 61.1 percent and she converted 87.1 percent of her one-pin spare chances.
Newberry (Fr. Lumberton, N.C.) averaged 20.37 pins per frame over the weekend, helping the Aggies win all eight Baker matches at the first MEAC meet of the season. She had a team-best 92.9-percent fill rate, converting strike 53.6 percent of the time and 91.7 percent of her one-pin spare opportunities.
Other Top Performers
Kaylah Castillo (Coppin State) averaged 17.9 pins per frame over the weekend and had an 80-percent fill rate.
Temira White (Coppin State) also averaged 18.46 pins per frame over the weekend.
Saralyne Nassberg (Delaware State) had an 83.3-percent fill rate and converted 94.1 percent of her one-pin spares, while averaging 20.13 pins per frame.
Sydney Reardon (Delaware State) averaged 20.12 pins per frame over the weekend and boasted an 86.7-percent fill rate.
Paulina Torres (Maryland Eastern Shore) converted on 96.6 percent of her one-pin spares and had a 91-percent fill rate, averaging 20.24 pins per frame.
Cheyenne Washington (Morgan State) averaged 21.1 pins per frame over the weekend in leading the Bears to a 6-2 mark and a second-place finish in the first MEAC meet of the season.
