Pairings Set for 2021 MEAC Volleyball Championship

NORFOLK, Va.,
Nov. 15, 2021 – The field is set for the 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Championship, which will be held Friday through Sunday, Nov. 19-21, at Burr Gymnasium on the campus of Howard University.
 
Delaware State and Howard are MEAC regular-season co-champions after both programs went 12-2 in conference play, but the Bison won the tiebreaker to claim the tournament’s No. 1 seed. The Bison will open at 11 a.m. on Friday in the quarterfinal round against No. 8 South Carolina State (0-14), while the Hornets, as the No. 2 seed, will face No. 7 Morgan State (3-11) at 5 p.m.
 
Coppin State and North Carolina Central tied for third in the standings at 9-5, with the preseason favorite Eagles winning the tiebreaker to take the No. 3 seed. Coppin State will play the 8 p.m. match on Friday against No. 6 Norfolk State (4-10).
 
NCCU, as the No. 4 seed, will take on No. 5 Maryland Eastern Shore (7-7) at 2 p.m.
 
Saturday’s semifinal round will begin with the first match at 5 p.m.
 
Sunday’s championship match will be at 8 p.m., live on ESPNU. The winner of that match will earn the MEAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Volleyball Championship. Howard has won five of the last six MEAC volleyball championships, running a streak of five in a row from 2015-19.
 
Fans can purchase a weekend pass for $25, or $10 per day. Tickets are available at www.bisontickets.com, and fans can also purchase tickets at the Burr Gymnasium box office during the event. All on-site sales will be done via credit card only.
 
Fans in attendance will be required to wear a mask at all times, except when actively eating or drinking. Anyone seen to be not in accordance with this guidance will be asked to leave.
