NORFOLK, Va., Nov. 15, 2021Delaware State sophomore Alondra Maldonado was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Morgan State’s Madison Grace was named Rookie of the Week and Delaware State junior Malgorzata Andersohn was named Setter of the Week, while Coppin State junior Ashley Roman earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
 
Maldonado (6-1, So., MB, Patillas, Puerto Rico) helped the Hornets clinch a share of the regular-season title and their program-record 24th win of the season, hitting .242 and racking up 15 kills against Maryland Eastern Shore.
 
Grace (5-10, Fr., OH, Clinton Township, Mich.) racked up 14 kills and four digs against Coppin State, hitting .200 in the Bears’ final match of the regular season.
 
Andersohn (5-8, Jr., S, Bydgoszcz, Poland) closed out the regular season with a 25-assist, 14-dig, 6-ace performance against Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday.
 
Roman (5-5, Jr., L, Isabela, Puerto Rico) notched 14 digs in the Eagles’ regular-season finale, a sweep of Morgan State.
 
Other Top Performers
Hope Casel (Coppin State) had five kills on .308 hitting against Morgan State.
 
Miajavon Coleman (Coppin State) had nine kills and 11 digs against Morgan State.
 
Andrea Tsvetanova (Coppin State) racked up 21 assists and four digs against Morgan State.
 
Milexa Cardona (Howard) notched 31 assists against West Virginia.
 
Kailyn Williams (Howard) closed the regular season with 10 kills against Norfolk State.
 
Cimone Woodard (Howard) had four kills each in matches against West Virginia and Norfolk State.
 
Marina Cruz (Maryland Eastern Shore) racked up 13 kills and nine digs against Delaware State.
 
Gabriela Hiciano (Morgan State) had eight kills and 12 digs against Coppin State.
 
Alyssa Sampson (Morgan State) had 13 digs against Coppin State.
 
Arlanda Faulkner (North Carolina Central) had nine kills and three aces, hitting .231 against South Carolina State.
 
Lauren Janok (North Carolina Central) recorded 15 assists, four digs and three aces against South Carolina State.
