Dover, Del. (Oct. 9, 2021)--- Delaware State scored a school-record 42 points in the second quarter to highlight a 56-6 victory over Virginia University of Lynchburg at Alumni Stadium today. The Hornets notched their second win in a row for the first time since 2018 to improve to 3-3 this season. The Dragons, members of the National Christian College Athletic Association, fell to 0-6.
Running back Sy’Veon Wilkerson cracked the 100-yard mark for the second game in row with 101 yards rushing and two touchdowns, while quarterback Jared Lewis completed 8-of-14 passes for 125 yards and two TDs in a little more than two quarters of play. Lewis has thrown six scoring passes in the last two games. Michael Chris-Ike came off the bench to rush for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Chris-Ike was also part of the last Delaware State duo to rush for 100 yards in a game. He ran for 127 and Brycen Alleyne added 122 in the Hornets’ 28-13 victory over North Carolina Central in 2018.
The Hornets outgained VUL 460-172. DSU posted season-highs of 258 yards rushing and 202 yards passing.
Jawain Granger had four solo tackles, an interception, two sacks and a forced fumble to lead Delaware State’s defensive effort.

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University sophomore quarterback Davius Richard threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns on 32 pass completions, just one away from the school record, but Tennessee Tech rushed for more than 200 yards as the visiting Golden Eagles defeated the NCCU Eagles, 27-16, on a rainy Saturday afternoon inside O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium.
Richard's 32 completions on 48 pass attempts nearly matched the NCCU single-game record of 33 completions by Earl "Air" Harvey on Nov. 9, 1985, at Johnson C. Smith. Richard also ran for a team-high 23 yards to amass 336 yards of total offense.
The quarterback's favorite target continued to be senior receiver Ryan McDaniel, who finished the day with 10 catches for 81 yards, bringing his MEAC-high receptions total to 37 through six games. Tyler Barnes collected five grabs for 37 yards, while Devin Smith contributed five catches for 29 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Smith added two catches for 75 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown reception.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - South Carolina State fell 30-7 at Florida A&M (3-2) on Saturday night at Bragg Memorial Stadium.
A one-yard touchdown run by Donte Anthony with 6:39 left in the game gave the Bulldogs (1-4) their first points of the night. Gavin Zimmerman made good on the PAT to help SC State avoid being shut out.
