Howard University women's volleyball team extended its winning streak after sweeping Delaware State inside Burr Gymnasium (25-20, 25-18, 25-23) on Tuesday evening.

Delaware State held an early lead in game one after a kill from Valeria Otero, 4-5, but Howard scored three straight and never looked back to take set one, 25-20. Delaware State took a 15-13 lead midway through game two until the Lady Hornets committed five consecutive hitting errors that swung momentum back to the Bison, 18-15.
From that point, Howard finished the set on a 7-3 run, capped off by a game-winning service ace from junior Kayla Diaz, 25-18.
Delaware State trailed early in set three, but responded and took a slight 12-11 edge midway through game three. Howard answered with a 5-1 spurt to recapture the momentum, 16-13.
Delaware State refused to go away, but HU kept the pressure on and closed the contest with a kill from junior Tamar Wells that ended the Lady Hornet's win streak.
Wells, reigning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week, finished with five kills and five total blocks while Diaz displayed another all-around performance with 18 assists, four digs, three kills and three total blocks in the win.
For Delaware State (20-2, 8-1 MEAC), the Lady Hornets suffered their first conference loss of the season. Alondra Maldonado had a match-high nine kills in the loss.
