ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Coppin State's men's tennis team put together several wins over the first two days of the ITA Regionals to open their fall season held at United States Naval Academy.
On Thursday, Sergiu Medesan defeated Loyola's Skyler Gates, 6-4, 6-4 to open the Tournament but dropped a tough decision to Villanova's Joshua Robinson, 7-5, 6-2. Luka Markovic took the opening set from Navy's Luke Garner before dropping the next two, but rebounded for a dominating 6-1, 6-1 victory over George Mason's Erick Rivas.
Vansh Kapoor dropped a pair of singles matches on Thursday to Georgetown's Adhvyte Sharma and Gates.
Friday saw Kapoor team with Anas Haddou for an 8-2 doubles victory over a duo from George Mason before falling to Virginia's Allen/Kiefer combo. Medesan and Markovic challenged Navy's top pair and fell, 8-5.
In singles action, Medesan and Kapoor dropped their consolation matches to Howard's Justin Cadeau and Akira Morganstern of Georgetown, respectively.
