NORFOLK, Va., Oct. 18, 2021—Delaware State junior Karen Cordero and North Carolina Central senior Arlanda Faulkner were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Co-Players of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, the conference office announced today. Howard’s Cimone Woodard was named Rookie of the Week and North Carolina Central sophomore Lauren Janok was named Setter of the Week, while North Carolina Central senior McKayla Young earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Cordero (5-9, Jr., OH, Chula Vista, Calif.) hit a combined .363 in straight-set wins over Morgan State and Coppin State, averaging 4.5 kills per set. On Friday, she hit .625 with 16 kills and three service aces against Morgan State, and on Sunday, she added 11 kills and three more aces against Coppin State.
Faulkner (5-9, Sr., OH, Goldsboro, N.C.) averaged 4.0 kills, 2.75 digs and 1.0 blocks per set as the Eagles went 1-1 over the weekend. She opened the weekend with 15 kills and 13 digs against Howard, notching two service aces and two blocks, before turning in a 17-kill, 9-dig, 6-block effort on Sunday in a four-set win over Norfolk State, hitting .457.
Woodard (6-3, Fr., MB, Missouri City, Texas) averaged 1.1 blocks per set as the Bison picked up wins over South Carolina State and North Carolina Central. She had four total blocks in each match, and against the Eagles, Woodard added 12 kills on .455 hitting. She also hit .667 with four kills against the Bulldogs.
Janok (5-11, So., S, Rougemont, N.C.) averaged 10.13 assists and 2.88 digs per set this past weekend. She had 39 assists, eight digs and five blocks against Howard on Friday, before recording her eighth double-double of the season on Sunday, turning in 42 assists and 15 digs against Norfolk State.
Young (5-10, Sr., MB, Charlotte, N.C.) averaged 1.25 blocks per set this past weekend for the Eagles. She started with three blocks against Howard on Friday, before turning in a seven-block effort on Sunday in a win over Norfolk State.

Miajavon Coleman (Coppin State) notched 10 kills against Maryland Eastern Shore to become the Eagles’ all-time leader in career kills.
Ashley Roman (Coppin State) had 15 digs each against Maryland Eastern Shore and Delaware State.
Andrea Tsvetanova (Coppin State) recorded a double-double against Maryland Eastern Shore with 25 assists and 10 digs.
Jasmal Cruz (Delaware State) had 11 digs against Coppin State.
Kelsie Dawson (Delaware State) notched seven kills and seven digs against Coppin State.
Alayna Lacy (Delaware State) recorded 33 total assists and eight digs in matches against Morgan State and Coppin State.
Milexa Cardona (Howard) recorded a double-double against North Carolina Central, notching 32 assists and 13 digs.
