WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The
Howard University volleyball team won its season opener over George Mason in three sets (25-23, 25-6, 25-17) Friday evening inside Burr Gymnasium.
Freshman Jennifer Bolden led the way with 10 kills in her collegiate debut.
After edging out the Patriots in set one, 25-23, Howard dominated the second frame while capitalizing on several Mason miscues. Howard eclipsed a .400 hitting percentage, whereas George Mason had six hitting errors.
Juniors Kailyn Williams and Marcelle Butler added eight and five kills, respectively, in the win.

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Morgan State took to the court in Hill Field House for the first time in the 2020 campaign on Friday, taking a hard-fough three-set victory over George Washington. The Lady Bears won the sets 25-23, 25-22, 25-22.
Gabriela Hiciano led the Lady Bears with 11 kills and 11 digs for her first collegiate double-double.
Tylar Roberson and Jennevy Santos each had 11 digs as well, and Jada Bivins added 31 assists.
