Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) basketball continues to roll on as Week 10 gets underway with more conference action and the addition of one non-conference contest. Conference play will continue after another week that saw several cancellations due to Covid-19.

After not playing since a Dec. 12 loss to North Carolina, North Carolina Central will resume its season on Friday, when the Eagles host Carver Bible College.

Sitting atop the MEAC Northern Division at 5-1 in conference play, Coppin State will look to extend its three-game winning streak when the Eagles play host to Morgan State for the third and fourth meeting between the two Baltimore rivals on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s game will be streamed live on FloHoops.

Delaware State will look to end its three-game losing streak, traveling down to Norfolk, Va. to play Norfolk State on Saturday and Sunday.

North Carolina Central will close out the week at home on Monday and Tuesday as they play their first conference games of the season against South Carolina State. The Monday night game will be nationally televised on ESPN2.

After seeing its last two games against archrival North Carolina Central postponed, North Carolina A&T State will return to Corbett Sports Center to play host to Florida A&M this Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s game will be streamed on FloHoops.

For the second straight week, Morgan State had a player named MEAC Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. This time it was De’Torrion Ware, who claimed the honors for his play in wins over St. Mary’s of Maryland and Delaware State. He shot a blistering 63.6% from the field, on 21-for-33 shooting, including 9-for-16 (56.3%) from behind the arc, and 100% from the foul line (8-for-8).  He averaged 29.5 points per game and poured in a career-high 36 points to go along with four boards, two assists, two steals and a block against Delaware State.

Coppin State continued its recent run, picking up two more weekly honors. Anthony Tarke continued his impressive run and was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth straight week and sixth time this season. The Maryland product averaged 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game in two wins over Norfolk State, along with an average of 12.5 points. He had a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double in one of the contests.

Coppin State’s Kenan Sarvan was named MEAC Rookie of the Week after averaging 10 points and 6.5 boards per game. The Netherlands’ native had 14 points and nine rebounds in Saturday’s win.
