As the conference standings begin to take shape in the world of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) women's basketball, this coming weekend was originally supposed to be a bye week. But with COVID-19 postponements already having been a reality, this weekend will see a couple makeup games and a schedule addition.
After two weekends of action, North Carolina A&T State is atop the Southern Division at 4-0, having swept back-to-backs with both South Carolina State and Norfolk State. In the Northern Division, Howard and Morgan State are tied at the top at 3-1 each; the Bison swept a back-to-back over Coppin State this past weekend, while the Lady Bears did the same to Delaware State.
The Aggies' Chanin Scott and Morgan State's Dahnye Redd were named MEAC Co-Players of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, on Tuesday, with Scott taking the honor for the second straight week. Howard's Anzhane' Hutton and Krislyn Marsh were named Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
North Carolina Central will finally kick off the conference portion of this schedule, heading to Echols Hall to face Norfolk State on Saturday and Sunday. The back-to-back was originally scheduled for the first weekend in January, to open MEAC play, but COVID-19 got in the way.
This weekend will also see Delaware State play host to North Carolina A&T State in a non-conference game on Sunday.
Coppin State, Howard, Morgan State and South Carolina State are scheduled to be idle this weekend.
Please note that all games and times are subject to change.
