North Carolina A&T State 97, South Carolina State 86
ORANGEBURG, S.C. -- Five players scored in double figures for North Carolina A&T State on Saturday afternoon as the Aggies opened MEAC play with a 97-86 win over South Carolina State in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Center.
Blake Harris came off the bench to drop a game-high 19 points on 6-for-9 shooting and a 7-for-8 effort at the charity stripe. Tyler Maye added 14 points, while the Aggies (4-9, 1-0 MEAC) got 13 points each from Webester Filmore and Tyrone Lyons. Kameron Langley chipped in 11 points.
Lyons also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
South Carolina State (0-11, 0-1 MEAC) also saw five players in double figures, with Rahsaan Edwards' 15 points leading the way. Omar Croskey added 14 points off the bench, while Themus Fulks had 12 and Sebastian Guitian added 11.
Jemal Davis scored 10 points.

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Freshman guard Jalen Speer put on a show on Saturday afternoon, scoring a career-high 21 points, as Florida A&M fell to South Carolina 78-71 at Colonial Life Arena. Speer went 7-for-12 from the field and added three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
The freshman from Gainesville, Fla. also went 3-for-5 from 3-point range.
